Joe Rogan gives a huge boost to Dustin Poirier after beating Conor McGregor

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan believes Dustin Poirier is the crownless lightweight champion after Poirier win over Conor McGregor at UFC 257.

Dustin Poirier had a surprise appearance in the main event of the night against the former UFC double champion, kicking him out during the second round. In his rematch, “The Diamond” showed how much he had evolved since his first encounter in 2014.

Rogan posted a post on his Instagram account praising Dustin Poirier for his performance against McGregor and said that if Khabib Nurmagomedov does not return from his retirement, Dustin Poirier should receive the UFC lightweight title.

“A tremendous congratulations to Dustin Poirier for his spectacular victory last night. At 155 lbs, he is absolutely one of the fiercest fighters on earth, and yes Khabib [Nurmagomedov] is really retired, for my money, Dustin is the crownless champion! Rogan wrote.

After the defeat, McGregor asked Dustin Poirier for a third fight that would end his dispute and, at the same time, crown the lightweight champion. However, there are several other competitors with strong claims to the title fight.

Michael Chandler’s win over Dan Hooker at UFC 257 placed him as a good contender for the 155 lb belt. Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje are other fighters with solid odds of clash against Dustin Poirier in the title fight.

After beating Conor McGregor at UFC 257, Dustin Poirier made one intriguing threat directed at the No. 1 featherweight and former lightweight title candidate, Max Holloway.

Dustin Poirier used his post-fight interview to remind Holloway of the two times they faced each other inside the Octagon – two wins at “The Diamond.” He challenged Holloway by saying he had proven to be one of the best boxers in the UFC.

“I think I showed a bit of boxing contrast here. I know what Max Holloway thinks [that] has the best boxing [in the UFC], but I have two victories over the boy … Nothing but respect for him, I’m a big fan, but I beat him twice. And I thought I was boxing pretty well with Conor here, ”Dustin Poirier said.

With Dustin Poirier almost guaranteed to have a fight for the title later, it remains to be seen who the UFC will choose as its opponent. There are numerous hungry fighters for this title shot, including McGregor.

Who would you like to see Dustin Poirier fight for the UFC lightweight belt? Sound off in the comments.
